As the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) looks toward 2023, we are especially excited for the Aspire annual convention. ANPD is eager to visit vibrant Atlanta, Georgia, from March 14 to 17. The 2023 convention will offer attendees ample opportunity to enjoy networking opportunities, wander the vendor hall, peruse our poster gallery and engage with presenters, and attend concurrent and general sessions. Attendees will enjoy an engaging atmosphere and high-quality experience!
In 2022, ANPD renamed the general sessions Game Changers, and they are just that for 2023! The conference will kick off with a bang (and a side split!) as Jan McInnis, change humorist, helps us to "Find the Funny in Change." Jan will use humor to provide practical tips to diffuse tension and open up communication during change. Marcus Engel, MS, CPXP, CSP, will join us to share his experiences in overcoming obstacles and navigating health care after an accident, helping us to reenergize and rediscover our passion for nursing. Finally, Pam Collins, MSN, RN, CMSRN, NPD-BC, will close us out with a presentation designed to offer hope and empowerment for attendees as they reenter the real world.
In addition to the Game Changer sessions, Aspire will provide attendees with a wide assortment of educational opportunities, including nine educational tracks that members can choose from. These educational tracks include the following:
1. Onboarding and orientation
2. Competency management
3. Education (nursing and inter-professional)
4. Role development
5. Collaborative partnerships
6. Research/evidence-based practice/quality improvement
7. Leadership
8. Diversity and inclusion
9. Healthy work environments
Whether you select a session that focuses on improving professional practice and the quality of nursing care or choose to hear a session on how to best influence practice, Aspire will have something to offer for everyone (ANPD, 2022).
Atlanta is a well-populated metropolitan area that includes 20 counties and cities. This contemporary city is well known for its rail lines and interstate highways. There are many tourist attractions, including the Coca-Cola Company, the Aquarium, the Varsity, multiple professional sports teams, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The weather in late March should be comfortable, with average highs in the 70s during the day, so come and enjoy an early spring! During the conference, abundant shopping, plentiful restaurants, and nightlife will greet you in downtown Atlanta (Discover Atlanta, 2019).
Whether you focus on one track or just attend to the topics that interest you, we know you will leave the conference energized and ready to bring back new and exciting ideas. We look forward to seeing you at our annual convention in March as we Aspire. Please visit the ANPD's website for more information on convention, registration, and hotel information.
