It is hard to believe that it has been a year since I started my role as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development (JNPD). For me, it has been a year of tremendous learning and excitement! With the support of our strong Editorial Board and the Lippincott publishing team, I think it has also been a very productive year! I would like to share a few JNPD 2019 highlights.
This year, JNPD celebrated its 35th anniversary! This year also marked the 30-year anniversary of the founding of the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD). To honor these significant accomplishments, we published excellent articles and columns on the history and impact of JNPD and ANPD! Congratulations to all who made our success possible! In addition, we published articles addressing new orientation/onboarding programs, competency management and evaluation, innovative methods of teaching and learning, role development, collaborative partnerships and research, and evidence-based practice. Thank you to all the authors who submitted manuscripts. I encourage experienced and new authors to continue to share your best practices with our JNPD readers!
This year, we featured several nurse leaders: Donna Cardillo, Chris Wilson, Gregory Durkin, Regina Cunningham, and Carol Boston-Fleischhauer. We thank these leaders for sharing their expertise with our readers! Our column editors worked very hard to feature relevant articles in Leadership, Simulation, Preceptorship, and Transitions in Practice and provided an ANPD Update.
We welcomed two new members to our board this year, Melanie Rainford, MSN, RN-BC, and Chan Park, MD, FAAEM. I would like to thank our Editorial Board for all their hard work and support this year! You can find the list of board members in the Journal's Masthead in print and online. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the following peer reviewers for their assistance during 2019. Their generous sharing of their time and their expertise allowed JNPD to publish more innovative and scholarly articles for our JNPD readers.
