Home care nurse killed while caring for patient. On January 21, Carrie Lynn Johnson, 39, was just doing her job at her 68-year-old patient's Detroit home when someone entered and shot and killed them both and then set the house on fire. The suspect stole Johnson's car and fled the scene. Johnson's brother, Craig LaLonde, said the car was found the following day with Johnson's purse still inside. As of press time, police were still investigating the deaths.
Johnson was a graduate of Mott Community College and worked at Beaumont and Henry Ford hospitals before switching to home health care to spend more time with her family. According to LaLonde, Johnson loved being a nurse and was always encouraging others to pursue a nursing career. Johnson leaves behind her husband, Victor Johnson; a 5-year-old daughter, Hannah; and two 9-year-old stepsons, Alex and Nick.
