As much as I respect Nursing2009, I'm disappointed in your article, "'Let Me Tell You about Being a Nurse'" (August 2009),* which stated that the nursing shortage is at crisis proportions. The nursing shortage seems to be temporarily relieved: I know because I'm one of many new graduate RNs in the United States who can't find a full-time job in a hospital.

I understand that more experienced nurses are putting off retirement, but I wish that hospitals would invest in us now. Then we new grads could tap into the knowledge of experienced nurses while they're still working. Have them train us now so that when the nursing shortage does come back in full force, we'll be prepared to take over.
