The Internet is now the "go to" place for information to assist healthcare professionals to keep current with practice issues and developments in the field. I don't know about you, but I rarely visit the physical space of the library because I can access whatever I need online. And, while I occasionally visit the library just for the peace and quiet that enhances concentration, I even go to the Web when I am in the library.
In response to the increasing demand for just in time, cutting-edge clinical information, Wolters Kluwer-Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), the publisher of Holistic Nursing Practice (HNP), has created a new Web site for HNP that is part of the collection of Web sites for all LWW journals. This Web site, which can be accessed at http://journals.lww.com/hnpjournal/, is more than just a place to activate or renew a subscription. It is a place where you can create an account, search the journal on a single topic issue, and create your own collections of your favorite HNP articles. In addition, there is a free service called eTOCS that enables you to receive, directly to your e-mail address, the table of contents from your favorite journals. This service enables you to select and review the evidence and the issues most pertinent to your practice or to that degree you might be pursuing. Imagine having at your fingertips all of the references you will need to write that paper or to develop that unique, evidence-based practice initiative at work.
When you open the Web site, you will see the table of contents of the most current issue of HNP including a sample page from every article or a picture of the author. Article abstracts are available just with a click. You can also access the abstracts of articles of previous issues and develop and store your own collection of articles in specific areas of interest.
There is ample information about the journal including information for authors who wish to submit articles. And, to meet your continuing education (CE) requirements for relicensure, there is a direct link to CE through the HNP Web site.
Members of the Editorial Board and I are excited about the potential of this Web site to spread the word about holistic nursing practices and to encourage the generation of new knowledge in this area. So click on http://journals.lww.com/hnpjournal/ to explore HNP's new Web site and bookmarkit!! I am certain that you will find this quick access to cutting-edge information on holistic care and issues a great tool to enhance your practice and education. Visit often and let us know what you think. We welcome the feedback of our readers!!
