Superb Symposium Sessions Scheduled
This year's Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care promises to deliver outstanding sessions and exciting speakers at the Grand Hyatt and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, October 22 to 25, 2009. Mike Schlappi will give the opening address, "If You Can't Stand Up, Stand Out!" Confined to a wheelchair since a childhood accident, Mr Schlappi challenges individuals to succeed despite difficult circumstances by empowering themselves and accepting personal responsibility.
John O'Leary, president of Rising Above, will deliver the keynote address, "Ignite Your Life!" When he was only 9 years old, Mr O'Leary suffered burns on more than 100% of his body and was not expected to survive the night. He did survive, however, despite losing all his fingers to amputation and enduring years of therapy and multiple surgeries. His message inspires audiences to discover passion and fulfill one's potential.
A number of general sessions will also highlight this year's event. They include "International Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Treatment Guidelines," "Cybercast-Utilization of Dermal Skin Substitutes and Advanced Modalities in the Clinical Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers," "Legal Preventive Medicine," "Why Hospitals Should Fly: The Ultimate Flight Plan to Patient Safety and Quality Care," "Bariatrics and Patient Safety," and "Masquerading Malignancies and Humongous Fungus: Identifying and Treating the Uncommon."
