Abstract
Advanced practice doctorate programs offer registered dietitians the opportunity to obtain beyond entry-level education, competencies, and skills necessary for advancement in the dynamic healthcare environment. The American Dietetic Association supports the development of advanced practice doctorate programs with 3 curriculum requirements: advanced academic coursework, supervised practice, and research. Three registered dietitians who are alumnae or currently enrolled in the advanced practice doctorate program in the Graduate Programs in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey share their experiences about how the program has impacted their acquisition of new knowledge, skills, approaches to practice, and scope of dietetics practice responsibilities.
