Would you like to hear the story of how Medford, Oregon developed the technique of nurse administered propofol sedation (NAPS)? We have served over 57,000 patients involving three different institutions and 35 different nurses for more than 10 years. We believe propofol is not inherently either a safe or dangerous drug. Our experience with its use for endoscopic sedation shows a remarkable safety record at a variety of facilities, with numerous nurses from varied backgrounds. Our presentation includes three speakers: a gastroenterologist, propofol sedation nurse from an inpatient setting, and one from an ambulatory endoscopy setting. We would like to share how propofol by registered nurse administration, per our protocol, improves the efficiency, gentility, and safety of endoscopic procedures.
