This presentation by a nurse with over10 years experience in esophageal manometry and 24 hour pH will define esophageal manometry, indications for manometry, and identify the types of probes and systems (water-perfused, solid state, and solid state in high resolution) used in manometry. Normal and abnormal esophageal parameters will be discussed. Esophageal manometry in high resolution and the advantages over tracings will be discussed. Pictures of abnormal motility in tracings/high resolution are used. The focus is on high resolution and the ease in performing and analyzing esophageal manometry with this approach. Impedence testing in manometry and pH is also discussed.
