It is with great excitement that we announce that the WOCN Society is undertaking a multiyear research project to examine the outcomes of the practice of WOC nurses. As WOCN Society members, you can appreciate the need to advance wound, ostomy and continence nursing specialty practice by evaluating its impact on patient outcomes. The specific aim of this outcomes research project is to determine whether the care provided by WOC specialty nurses improves patient outcomes compared to the care delivered by non-WOC nurses.
As a member of the WOCN Society, we wanted you to be aware that the Society is calling for proposals to identify qualified investigators to conduct the outcomes research study that will be funded up to $200,000 for a maximum 2-year period. We encourage you to visit the WOCN Web site (http://www.wocn.org) to view the full request for proposals and, if qualified, to apply for the award.
Additionally, we need you to consider whether any of your professional colleagues would be interested in planning, directing, and executing the research. We are asking you to share this information with them. This is one of the most exciting and important activities the WOCN Society has undertaken. We need your support in getting the word out about this project. Please encourage interested parties to go to our Web site and learn more about the WOCN Society Request for Outcomes Research Proposal.
