In "Unlicensed Personnel: Get It in Writing" (Legal Questions, January 2009),* a reader asked whether radiologic technologists (RTs) could administer opioids under the supervision of a radiologist. You referred the reader to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' document Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) Role Delineation. RRAs aren't the same as RTs. The training and scope of practice for RRAs is more advanced than for RTs.

I agree that the reader should get the facility's policy and procedure in writing to clarify the issue, especially in states that don't have any mandatory certification (license) for RTs.
