In the "Nursing2008 Survey Report: Getting to the Root of Medication Errors" (December 2008),* nurses were asked if they initiate an event report when they catch another practitioner's mistake. At my urban, acute care hospital, one nurse routinely makes errors that can harm patients. When I've reported her errors, she's confronted me angrily and threatened me with a harassment lawsuit. The hospital didn't back me up, so I stopped reporting her errors.
Thank you for letting me voice my concerns.
