[black small square] I'd like to urge your readers, both RNs and LPNs, to be very familiar with their scope of practice as defined by their state board of nursing. All RNs need to know what tasks they can safely and legally delegate to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP). They also need to be aware of regulations or opinion statements about circumstances under which they can or can't delegate. Knowing their facility's policies on delegation is also vital because facilities may choose to be more restrictive in delegation than what's allowed within the scope of practice.
