ABSTRACT
Calcaneus fractures occur when a large amount of force is placed on the hind portion of the foot. Jumping off of high places is a common presentation. The force of such injury may affect the spine. The skeletal anatomy of the foot and the many compartments it contains make this injury highly complicated especially if the injury is intra-articular. The mechanism of injury, clinical presentation, treatment methodologies, and long-term rehabilitation of the calcaneus fracture are reviewed.
