Derma Sciences, Inc, Princeton, NJ, announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given clearance to another dressing in the MEDIHONEY product line, which is the first 100% medical-grade honey product cleared for use on burns and wounds by the FDA, according to the manufacturer. The product is 100% active Leptospermum honey packaged in a 1-oz tube with an easy-to-use applicator tip. The other dressings already cleared in the MEDIHONEY line are in calcium alginate and hydrocolloid formats. The calcium alginate dressing has been available since October 2007, and the hydrocolloid versions-adhesive and nonadhesive-and the newly cleared tube version are expected to be available by midsummer.

Advanced BioHealing, Inc, Westport, CT, and Regenesis Biomedical, Inc, Scottsdale, AZ, have announced an agreement focused on the promotion of Dermagraft within the US government health care system. Under terms of the agreement, Regenesis will provide its specialized sales force to market Advanced Biohealing's product, Dermagraft, within the Veteran's Administration, Department of Defense, and TriCare health care payer systems. Dermagraft is a bioengineered tissue product approved by the FDA for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.
