Kaiman says, "When I moved to Albuquerque from New York City five years ago, one of the first things I noticed was the intensity of the moonlight-strong enough to read by-and the moon itself, constant, ineffable, and mysterious. These paintings are from a Moon Journal I kept from August through November 2007. It was a difficult time for me, because of illness in my family and because we were getting many psychologically wounded soldiers back from Iraq and Afghanistan in our posttraumatic stress disorder clinic. The stress of all that could easily have led to burnout. Painting the moon every night revived and rejuvenated me and allowed me to continue treating patients." Contact artist: [email protected].
