Purpose:
The environment in which clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) practice is changing.
Significance:
Recent changes in the practice, education, and regulation needs of CNSs in both Canada and the United States identified the need for cross-border discussions and international collaboration.
Design:
The presenters represent CNSs in British Columbia, Ontario, and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists in the United States.
Methods:
Collaboration has focused on regulatory needs as a primary focus but has also addressed commonalities in education and practice across borders.
Findings:
The presenters will discuss the needs for collaboration, sharing, and understanding of the different political environments while focusing on patient care outcomes as the driving force for practice.
Conclusions:
They will share, for example, the concerns they have by postponing the title protection.
