WOC nursing incorporates principles and practices that promote, maintain, and restore health for persons with wounds, ostomies, and continence problems throughout their lives. WOC nurses specialize in the care of individuals with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary and integumentary systems.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This online program is offered for registered nurses who seek advanced knowledge and skills in ostomy management and who function well as independent learners, who have access to a computer, and who feel comfortable using the internet as an educational resource. Didactic content, assignments, examinations, and course evaluations are presented sequentially over eight weeks in an asynchronous online format. A unique feature is that students in the program have the opportunity to access the site and interact with other students and faculty at times convenient to their schedule with faculty available daily. A minimum of forty hours of clinical experience arranged by the student with a WOCN-qualified preceptor in two different clinical settings follows the didactic component. This program has no onsite requirement. Students will earn 6 graduate quarter credits.
