Thermal printer requires minimal maintenance
[black small square]Medi-Dose and EPS recently introduced the Zebra LP2844 Direct Thermal Printer. This economical printer can be used with the MILT 3.0 software and the companies' newly designed thermal labels. Together, these products are designed to help pharmacists and nurses with their medication identification and bar coding needs.
Requiring virtually no maintenance, the LP2844's footprint takes up minimal space. The label stock has thermal ink embedded within it, eliminating the need for toner. The printed text and image are released when the labels pass the printer's thermal source.
Newly designed Medi-Dose and EPS thermal labels have been thoroughly tested with the LP2844. When used with MILT 3.0 software, the LP2844 prints bar codes, text, graphics, special fonts, shapes, and logos for all Medi-Dose and EPS thermal labels.
Protection with synthetic polyisoprene gloves
[black small square]Ansell Limited's Derma Prene IsoTouch powder-free, nonlatex surgical gloves are made from synthetic polyisoprene and deliver the performance of natural rubber latex without the risks of natural rubber sensitization. Providing maximum barrier protection, comfort and tactile sensitivity, Derma Prene IsoTouch brings the key features needed by surgeons and OR professionals into a single glove.
According to Ansell, polyisoprene gloves are recommended as an alternative to natural rubber latex because of their similarity to latex with respect to fit, feel, and comfort.
Although not required by the FDA, the surgical gloves have passed viral penetration tests according to ASTM International F1671 and F1670 standards. They feature Ansell's SureFit technology, which prevents cuff roll-down, and provides surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with superior barrier protection during OR procedures.
Stations added to storage cabinet line
[black small square]The expanded line of Datel brand organized storage cabinets from InnerSpace Corporation now includes nurse documentation stations. Datel nurse documentation stations are designed to house audio/video, data storage, and communications equipment required for an integrated operating suite. Various manufacturers' electronic equipment can be accommodated, along with the flexibility of adding cabinets and accessories to meet specific needs.
Datel documentation stations are available as preconfigured units, and custom configurations are possible through the "Build-A-Documentation Station" option. Material choices include stainless steel and laminate.
Units can be designed with the tall equipment tower on the left or right, leaving room for additional storage cabinets and accessories that improve workflow. A large pull-out work surface provides adequate space for keyboards and other input devices while allowing the nurse to view the procedure.
Vented doors, open cabinet backs, and cord pass-thrus are standard on every documentation station. Equipment towers feature a lower pull-out shelf that provides easy access to wiring and equipment and reduces the time required for set-up and maintenance.
Surgical drape for common bariatric surgeries
[black small square]The new Convertors Bariatric Surgical Drape from Cardinal Health was specifically designed to meet the needs of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding-the two most common bariatric surgery procedures.
The overall drape dimensions are designed to fully cover the patient without needing additional sheets to contain the sterile field. The longer, more ample armboard covers are sealed at the end to ensure the patient's entire arm and hand are covered during the procedure. Finally, two fabric troughs flank each side of the fenestration, providing an area to tuck cords and tubing away from the incision site.
