Dr Olshansky addressed the issue of uncertainty of prediction I was attempting to highlight in the Evidence-Based Report Card discussion. Predictive validity is a statistical concept for diagnostic tools which has been applied to PURAS in the literature. As Dr Olshansky elegantly points out, professionals engaged in patient care can prevent PURAS predictions from coming true.
