[black small square] I'm writing in response to the letter from Carol Wallace ("Break into Correctional Nursing," October 2007)* about nursing in a county jail. As a public health nurse, I've recently taken over a county jail nurse's duties.
Like Carol, I find that caring for patients is challenging due to multiple comorbidities, often complicated by lack of self-care and substance abuse and mental health issues. It's been one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs that I've held to date!!
