The American Professional Wound Care Association

An international faculty, highlighted by Andrew Boulton, MD, will be sharing its expertise in wound care at the American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) course, APWCA2008, from March 6 to 9, 2008, in Fort Worth, TX. Dr Boulton will be the recipient of the first Annual Outstanding Achievement Award offered by the APWCA. He will also deliver the course's keynote address, "The Diabetic Limb: Is There Evidence to Support What We Do? What Is the Quality of That Evidence?"

Other renowned faculty members include Edwin Ampadu, MD, MPH, FAPWCA, from Ghana, who will update participants on the "Buruli Ulcer: Devastation of Skin" and Loretta Vilekyte, MD, PhD, from England, who will discuss "Depression, Stress, and Effect on Healing of Skin Ulcers in Diabetic Patients."

Nurses, podiatrists, and physicians may attain up to 30 CEs/CMEs at this program, with credit applied for and pending at press time. The goal of APWCA 2008 is to offer a new perspective on the latest developments in wound care that is valuable in daily practice. From "Compartment Syndrome: Wound Management Considerations" by Richard "Sal" Salcido, MD, to "Wound Bed Prep 2008-A Novel, Systemized Approach" by Elizabeth Ayello, PhD, RN, APRN,BC, CWOCN, FAPWCA, FAAN, and Sharon Baranoski, MSN, RN, CWOCN, APN, DAPWCA, FAAN, the course is diversified and geared to the educational and professional needs of those working with wound care and with diabetic or high-risk patients.
