The success I've enjoyed as a nurse is the result of many wonderful mentors who voluntarily and patiently gave of their time and talent. I can still vividly recall my first day on the job as a new nurse. I look back on that day as a great experience, one that I've carried with me for the past 20 years. In that time I've held various positions and I always keep that memory of my first day on the job at the forefront of my interactions with newly assigned personnel, so their initial encounter is positive too. I believe the same care and consideration I extend to my patients should be extended to nursing personnel as well. I see it as giving back what I've been given along the way.
The next step in my journey is to become a nursing instructor. Once again, I'm both nervous and excited. To all the members of this great profession, I extend a heartfelt thank-you for all you do.
