I very much appreciated the article by Joyce Hammer, "The Woman Who Lived on Rudyard Street" (July 2007).* The author recalls an incident of receiving comfort from a client she'd been assigned to help. Sitting on my desk is a framed card that a fellow nurse gave me that conveys the same sentiment. Beneath a black-and-white photograph of a baby bird resting in a person's hand is this message: "We give comfort and receive comfort, sometimes at the same time[horizontal ellipsis]."
Thanks for the reminder.
