Brief: Wright offers insight into the "new" old problem of evil. Three factors characterize the problem of evil. Wright states, "First, we ignore evil when it doesn't hit us in the face. Second, we are surprised by evil when it does. Third, we react in immature and dangerous ways as a result" (pp. 23-24). He unpacks these statements and explains how living between the cross and resurrection will ultimately overcome evil. Wright leads readers to understand the problem of evil within themselves and the role of forgiveness while offering no pat answers to suffering.
