Abstract
This pretest-posttest study tested the usability of http://MyPyramid.gov and evaluated nutrition knowledge retained by Simmons College female nonnutrition students (n = 35) who had no prior viewing of http://MyPyramid.gov. Presurvey included an online nutrition knowledge test (NKT). Postsurvey included usability evaluation and identical NKT. As an intervention, participants viewed http://MyPyramid.gov. Final analysis concluded an increase in mean NKT scores of 10.8 to 11.5 from pretest to posttest (P < .05). Usability feedback suggested improvement on site organization, content, and functionality. http://MyPyramid.gov may be a valuable online nutrition teaching tool, however modifications to the Web site may increase its effectiveness for future users.
