I was particularly moved by "The Farewell Party: To Life!!" (June 2007).* It brought back the 50th anniversary party I had for my parents. I held it 2 years early because my mother had metastatic breast cancer and my father had mild dementia. I sent out invitations and fudged their wedding date to have an announcement placed in the local paper. Nearly 300 family members and friends showed up, and it was a fantastic success, a wonderful party and a wonderful memory.
Not one person thought I was crazy for holding the event 2 years early, and I'm so glad I did. Since then, I've lost both my parents, but I can smile through my tears when I see the pictures of the happy smiling couple with their friends.
