Heidi Lutz's "Marvin's Legacy" (Student Extra, February) deeply touched me, and I was impressed by the great care the author provided in a challenging and stressful situation.

As a nursing student with graduation coming up soon, I worry about my own ability to provide adequate care to my patients. Will I be able to assume all my nursing duties and responsibilities? Will the nursing guidelines I learned from my instructors be sufficient in helping me face the challenges of the nursing profession?

I believe that I need to rely on my instinct when caring for a patient, and if I sense that something is wrong, usually something is wrong-and I should do whatever is possible to help that patient, even if it means waking up the physician at home in the middle of the night.
