Abstract
Fifteen of the 16 ARDS survivors reported traumatic vivid memories, often triggered by sensory stimuli they encountered in their everyday lives. It is important for acute care and outpatient nurses to understand the impact of an ICU admission on ARDS survivors’ mental health, so they can adopt evidence-based interventions to prevent or limit these effects.
