Abstract

Previous researchers have similarly found no correlation between self-report stress scales and cortisol values, increased stress experience among nonbinary or genderqueer individuals compared to cisgender individuals, and a positive correlation between aging and stress. Yet, our finding that Black participants reported lower stress levels than White participants is unexpected. Our study demonstrates a high correlation between hair and nail cortisol values, suggesting the potential to substitute these markers as needed.
