Huneke says, "This painting is from a series titled The Healer's Heart. The series started when I was commissioned by a nontraditional healer to illustrate a concept: the way sometimes our own hearts must be broken before we can help others heal. That painting turned out to be the first of a small series that has since continued to emerge. In making these paintings, I've often lost myself in this world of lovely, colored dots. It's not a way I've ever painted before-it's a very contemplative kind of work-but it's well suited to the limited time I had as a nursing student and have now as a practicing nurse."
