Tennessee is trying to encourage nursing instructors through loan forgiveness, according to a January article in the Tennessean. The new program would forgive faculty a quarter of their student loans every year they teach in a Tennessee nursing program.
Next month, Kentucky will join Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas as one of the southern "compact states." Nursing licenses in any compact state are recognized in the others.
The Mississippi State Health Plan showed an RN vacancy rate of 7.7% in Mississippi hospitals.
The central third of the Florida peninsula is home to nine of the state's sixteen Magnet facilities. One source in the Orlando area says the market for RNs, advanced practice nurses, and nurse managers is competitive. Most in demand are adult and pediatric critical care RNs.
