The actions of the federal government affect the delivery of healthcare at many levels. Affected parties, whether patients, nurses, physicians, or others with a stake in the outcome, often organize to influence government policy. The lobbyist is the conduit between the stakeholders and the government. This session describes the work of the lobbyist at the federal level, the importance of collective and individual involvement in the shaping of federal health policy, and ways individuals and groups can be most effective in their interactions with Congress and the Administration.

We are pleased to present the abstracts from SGNA's 34th Annual Course, Charting a Course for Professional Growth. The diversity of these topics certainly reflects the richness and breadth of our specialty.
