The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) has invited a diverse faculty representing world opinion leaders from 7 countries to speak at its national clinical conference, Wound Care and the Related Sciences, on April 19-21, 2007, at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center in Philadelphia, PA. A postconference course will be held on April 22, 2007.

Among the conference's general sessions will be computer-facilitated interactive courses and daily question-and-answer sessions. The preconference courses feature new topics, such as plastic surgery for wounds and a full course on offloading. Andrew Boulton, MD, from the United Kingdom, will address the topic of "Multidisciplinary Approach to Wound Care." Psychiatrist Loretta Vileikyte, MD, PhD, also from the United Kingdom, will provide a valuable perspective on the "Psychology of Patient Care: What Providers Can Do to Improve Outcomes." Vipul Dev, MD, PhD, FAPWCA, will offer his expertise on "Stem Cells and Wound Care." Wound care leaders Sharon Baranoski, MSN, RN, CWOCN, APN, DAPWCA, FAAN, and Elizabeth A. Ayello, PhD, RN, APRN, BC, CWOCN, FAPWCA, FAAN, will direct a course on "Wound Care Update: Current Trends of Clinical Practice."

As hyperbaric oxygen therapy is one of the newer approaches to treating wounds, the annual APWCA debate will be on "Hyperbaric Oxygen Debate: Pro vs Con with Cases," featuring a panel of physicians from several disciplines dedicated to wound care.

Thirty-three contact hours/continuing medical education credits will be available during the 2007 conference. Discounted conference registration will be available through March 17, 2007.
