Kudos on your Photo Guide, "Responding to Foreign-Body Airway Obstruction" (December 2006). Your photo (shown at right) correctly illustrates how a rescuer positioned behind a choking victim should put her foot between his feet. If the victim loses consciousness, he'll slide down the rescuer's leg to the floor, minimizing the risk of injury to victim and rescuer.
I'm an instructor for both the American Heart Association Basic Life Support and the American Safety and Health Institute. Unfortunately, their training literature and videos don't illustrate this extremely important technique.
