According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Arizona is expected to join California, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Texas as states where the majority of residents are minorities.
Geography. Northern Arizona boasts the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, and the mountains around Flagstaff. North central Arizona has all four seasons, with snow sports, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Phoenix and its surrounding communities form central Arizona's Valley of the Sun, set in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Further south, Tucson and southern Arizona have an Old West flavor, plus outstanding golf courses and resorts. Arizona's west is dominated by the Colorado River.
Opportunities. Besides being a destination for travel nurses in more traditional assignments, Arizona needs nurses for longer-term assignments, when its population swells even more with those escaping a cold winter. Another opportunity is working with the Indian Health Service, the agency responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives.
