First Place Winners were members:
Sharon Kuiken, RN, CPSN, and Donna Seiffert, RN, CPSN, for writing "Thinking Outside the Box!! Enhance Patient Education by Using Shared Medical Appointments" Their paper appeared in the October-December 2005 issue, Volume 25(4), pp. 191-195. Sharon is a staff nurse in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, New Hampshire. Donna is a Clinical Coordinatior, also in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
The Second Place Winner was Sandra J. Pfaff, BSN, RN, who wrote "Killing Germs: Antisepsis, Disinfection, and Sterilization in Underserved Countries," which appeared in the special focus issue on volunteerism edited by Jeanne Prin Wyatt. This was the July-September 2005 issue, Volume 25(3), pp. 140-151. This paper was also the Continuing Education Feature for that issue.
The Third Place Winner was Pamela Esch, PhD, BSN, RN, for her authoring "Caring for HIV-Positive and Aging Patients With Associated Facial Lipoatrophy," which appeard in the January-March 2006 issue, Volume 26(1), pp. 17-23. Pamela works at the Spokane Dermatology Clinic, Spokane, Washington, and has 20 years of clinical training and expertise in all facets of cosmetic dermatologic procedures.
