Mission

The American Journal of Nursing is the profession's foremost peer-reviewed journal. Its mission is to promote excellence in professional nursing practice by providing timely, evidence-based articles on nursing, health, and health care. Presenting specific information in accessible and engaging prose, AJN combines the insight of art with the rigor of science.

In an age of unprecedented access to information, AJN is committed to synthesizing and communicating research and clinical developments in readable and compelling ways in print and electronic formats, and to disseminating both beyond the journal's readership. Its primary audience is every nurse-whether student or researcher, generalist or specialist-who views nursing as a career requiring lifelong learning, though it also seeks to advance nursing perspectives within the broader health care communities and the general public.
