Hospira Introduces the VISIV(TM) Container
Hospira announced the launch of its VISIV(TM) flexible intravenous container. This container's advanced technology and patient- and clinician-focused design were developed to assist hospitals in their efforts to improve patient safety, advance caregiver safety and efficiency, and increase environmental responsibility. VISIV features sterile ports covered by ergonomic pull-rings. The sterile ports make it possible for medication to be immediately added to the container. The VISIV container is also the first plastic large-volume flexible IV container to require no overwrap and results in approximately 40%-60% less waste than other IV containers, helping reduce hospitals' environmental impact and disposal fees. By eliminating the steps of removing and discarding the overwrap, VISIV also helps caregivers to provide intravenous therapy to patients more quickly. The container is made from PVC- and DEHP-free materials and is an alternative to containers made of glass or containing DEHP or PVC.
