Welcome to 2 New Nutrition Today Columnists!
Nutrition Today is delighted that 2 new columnists, Sylvia Rowe and Christine Rosenbloom, PhD, RD, have joined the masthead. Each brings wonderful experience in her field to the journal. Sylvia Rowe, whose inaugural "Nutrition Communication" column appeared in the July/August issue, brings years of policy experience in her field to our readers. Formerly the president and chief executive officer of the International Food Information Council (IFIC), Rowe is currently the president of SR Strategies, a food consulting practice. Among her many accomplishments during her career at IFIC and the IFIC Foundation is the development of Kidnetic.com, an interactive nutrition and physical activity Web site for children and their families to help address childhood obesity. She also pioneered the groundbreaking "Food for Thought" media research and "Improving Public Understanding: Guidelines for Communicating Emerging Science on Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health" in partnership with the Harvard School of Public Health. Rowe's understanding of and leadership on food issues in the United States and international arenas helped forge partnerships with leading health professional, government, academic, and consumer organizations and led to her becoming one of the most world-renown speakers, making science communications understandable for consumers. Welcome Sylvia! We look forward to your insights.

Beginning January 1, 2007, the merged organization will be known as GMA/FPA for the first year, after which it will be known only as GMA. GMA/FPA would represent approximately 300 member companies from every sector of the food, beverage, and consumer products industry. The merger will harness the collective expertise of the industry's leading government affairs and scientific and technical experts and will continue to identify areas of collaboration with customers to promote new technology and supply chain efficiency.
C. Manly Molpus, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of GMA, announced his retirement early this year. When the GMA/FPA merger is completed on January 1, 2007, Cal Dooley, current FPA president and chief executive officer, will lead the combined entity. Best wishes, GMA/FPA!
