INTRODUCTION
On behalf of the entire 2006 Program Committee, I would like to invite you to the AACVPR 21st Annual Meeting at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia, September 14-17, 2006.
Sessions Offering Something for Everyone
Attending the Annual Meeting will give you the tools you need to continue the journey to improve health outcomes for your patients. The Program Committee has recruited internationally prominent scientists and clinicians to speak at the plenary and breakout sessions, and there is also the opportunity to learn from successful clinicians in small group interactive sessions. Innovative program models will be highlighted, although there are still plenty of sessions that deal with complex clinical issues as well as common behavioral challenges. This year's meeting topics include:
* Chronic Disease Self-Management and Health Behavior Change
* Exercise Testing/Training in Heart Failure
* Disease Management for Cardiac and Pulmonary Health Professionals: Working Together for Patients
* Tobacco: A Modern Plague but a Pandemic for the Ages
* Metabolic Syndrome: The Cardiologist's Perspective
* Building the Health Plan and Provider Relationship
Pre-Meeting Workshops
The pre-meeting workshops on Thursday, September 14, provide an opportunity to learn new skills that can be translated into improved programs. This year's sessions are entitled: "The Renaissance of Rehab: Adjusting the Business Model for Tomorrow's Customers" and "Preventing and Treating the Cardiovascular Consequences of Type 2 Diabetes."
Networking Events
The meeting will feature several evening social events including an evening at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences on Thursday and the West Virginia Symphony on Saturday. The Banquet Celebration on Friday will feature a shorter presentation program and an expanded evening of celebration, including a DJ and dancing.
Enjoy Charleston
During your free time, be sure to enjoy all that Charleston has to offer. West Virginia's state capital is known for its rich history and culture, as well as its beautiful golf courses and galleries, specialty shops, and quaint cafes along the tree-lined streets of the downtown area.
So make plans today to reconnect with old friends; meet new associates, and learn about new techniques, healthcare advances, and products at the AACVPR 21st Annual Meeting from September 14-17. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact headquarters at 312/321-5146 or [email protected].
See you in Charleston, West Virginia!
