It is with regret that I announce the retirement of Jeanne Prin Wyatt as the Associate Editor of Plastic Surgical Nursing. Regret, because I'll miss working with Jeanne, who is a loyal member of ASPSN, a gifted writer, an unwaivering patient advocate, stellar nurse, and an always upbeat colleague. After more than 20 years of service to our organization, Jeanne has decided to step down from leadership roles in order to devote all of her energies to her true love-family.
For the last four years, Jeanne has served as Associate Editor of the journal. As Associate Editor, she was responsible for the manuscript review process and edited the annual focus issue that is released at the time of the convention. I have never known an editor with such a gift for writing such cohesive and passionate editorials.
Jeanne has been a manuscript reviewer since 1990. She has written more than a dozen articles for the journal. All of this was done while she held many volunteer positions in ASPSN: Minnesota Chapter Chair, Midwest District Chair, Program Chair for the Midwest Annual Meeting, and Instructional Course Chair for the Annual Convention. Jeanne served as Treasurer of our organization from 1992 and as President in 1994.
As adept as Jeanne is in leadership roles, she is likewise in patient care. Jeanne was a nurse manager and nurse clinician in several plastic surgeon's offices, spanning the last 25 years. Jeanne began her nursing career working in the operating room and intensive care unit.
Dearest to Jeanne's heart have been her fourteen medical mission trips to Guatemala and the Phillipines as a volunteer.
Jeanne has shared her nursing expertise by giving countless presentations. She values continuing education and has accrued more than 650 CEUs.
As a representative for ASPSN, Jeanne has been a beacon on the national level with the ASPRS Council on Related Organizations, National Federation of Specialty Nursing Organizations, and many others.
Considering all of Jeanne's accomplishments, it is no wonder it is time for her to take a break!!
The best of Jeanne's "retirement" is that she is not going to disappear from sight. She is looking forward to continuing her membership with ASPSN and seeing all of us at the convention in San Francisco.
Thank you, Jeanne, for all the you have done for Plastic Surgical Nursing and for ASPSN. You have been so generous with your talents, and all of us at the journal will be forever grateful.
