Karen Roush's article made me feel long-suppressed emotions. I have been an NP providing primary care for people with HIV and AIDS for seven years. My patients shouldn't have to die young, yet they do. Why do I always feel that I fail them-even when they don't get tested until they become ill; don't adhere to drug regimens; and continue to use drugs, have unprotected sex, and die?
