The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ people. They offer expert-led suicide prevention and mental health crisis interventions and community resources including the Trevor Lifeline, a 24/7 suicide prevention helpline with counselors available via call, chat, or text. Its online feature, TrevorSpace, enables LGBTQ+ youth to connect with an international community. The Trevor Project also organizes training sessions for teachers, school nurses, and counselors.
National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE)

Since its founding in 2003 by transgender activists who recognized the urgent need to advance policies for transgender equality, NCTE has been an important voice in the advocacy for transgender rights in the US. Key trans advocacy issues include equal access to employment and protection from workplace discrimination, inclusive healthcare, protection from hate crimes and violence, access to housing, and best practices for homeless shelters.
SAGE: Advocacy and Services for LGBTQ+ Elders

LGBTQ+ individuals may face unique challenges as they get older including finding appropriate support and care in assisted living facilities and senior care. Determined to help make aging better for LGBTQ+ people, SAGE is among the few nonprofit groups that focus on issues impacting the older LGBTQ+ population. Its programs include the National LGBTQ+ Housing Initiative and SAGECare Cultural Competency Training Programs for senior care centers. They also have free pdf guides (available in English and Spanish) for LGBTQ+ members to find inclusive long-term care and for healthcare members to provide culturally competent.
