The November 2005 View point ("Not Enough Nurses, Education, and Technology") is wrong on one small point. Not all nursing home residents are assessed and evaluated through the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS) process. Those in beds licensed only by states don't receive this assessment. Therefore, there are uncounted and untold stories out there that could skew the findings of the MDS-RAI.
