Article Content

This book is encompassing in its approach to patient education. It is divided into three parts: Perspectives on Teaching and Learning, Characteristics of the Learner, and Techniques and Strategies for teaching and learning. Each chapter has references, review questions, and objectives for learning to add to the process for nursing and other students.

Highlights are chapters that discuss adult literacy, cultural attributes of the learner, and special populations, which describes teaching direction for the neurologically impaired patient. Tables and models illustrate and solidify concepts for best approaches to patient teaching.

A publisher's Web site provides an adjunct for nursing educators, including Power Point slides that can be downloaded and a resource manual to complete this thorough publication.
