This issue marks the 20th anniversary of The Journal of Perinatal & Neonatal Nursing (JPNN) commonly known as the "Pink Journal." JPNN was conceived in 1986 and first published in 1987. This quarterly journal, originally designed to address both obstetric and neonatal components, has continued to be true to its primary objective, which was to provide practicing perinatal and neonatal nurses with useful, topically focused information to guide practice.

Many topics and contributors later, JPNN has a lot to celebrate-a new home at Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, a new cover, new size, and a strong editorial review board. Many people deserve thanks. First, our audience of readers who help keep this subspecialty journal strong; our editorial board members; the numerous contributions of Dr Susan Blackburn; our other contributing editors, Jackie Tillett, Jacqueline M. McGrath, and Laura R. Mahlmeister; and especially Beth Guthy, our publisher.

This special anniversary issue will focus on 3 dimensions. First is the historical perspective in each of the subspecialties, giving a review of where we have been in perinatal and neonatal care. Second, a review of the last 10 years of JPNN articles rated by members of the editorial board for the "Best of the Decade" awards. Finally, completing this issue is a series of short state of the practice and state of the science articles highlighting topics within each subspecialty and what we might expect in the future.

Many thanks to all who made JPNN a strong, viable journal over the past two decades. Please share with us as we celebrate 20 successful years of the Pink Journal and plan for the journal's future success.
