I enjoyed reading "Am I a Nurse?" (Reflections, October 2005) by Donna Diers. I have also had to decide whether to keep my RN license active.

My main reason for renewing my license is the fact that I had worked very hard to achieve it. I may not formally work in nursing, but I have always been available to help others. I answer health-related questions on a regular basis. I have been the daughter nurse, the daughter-in-law nurse, the nurse consultant to my fellow massage school students, and most important, the nurse mom.

Like the author, I enjoy meeting other underground nurses. I will continue to check the "other" category on my licensure form as Dr. Diers does. I too am an Other Nurse.
