2006 NBCHPNR(R) Certification Recognition Lunch

NBCHPNR(R) will host its 5th Annual Certification Recognition event during the Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2006, from 12:30 to 1:45 PM at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, Nashville, TN. Seating is limited to the first 250 registrants. Bonnie Niebuhr, MS, RN, CAE,Chief Executive Officer for the American Board of Nursing Specialties, will be the featured speaker. Her topic is "ABNS offers Added Value: The Power of Accreditation."

 

NBCHPNR(R) Announced the first Certified Advanced Hospice and Palliative Nurse of the Year Award

The National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses will present the 2006 Certified Advanced Hospice and Palliative Nurse of the Year Award to Maryjo Prince-Paul, MSN, APRN, BC-PCM, at the 2006 AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly.

 

"Maryjo's passion for palliative care, be it through her many years of hospice care, educational initiatives, palliative care role, and currently through her research initiatives, is infectious to all who interact with her," said Judy Bartel, MSN, APRN, BC-PCM, director of clinical programs at Hospice of the Western Reserve.

 

Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant of the Year Award

The National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses will present the 2006 Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant (CHPNA) of the Year Award to Socorro Peebles, CHPNA, CNA, HHA, at the 2006 AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly.

 

"Socorro Peebles epitomizes the qualities desired in a CHPNA: warm, friendly, knowledgeable, dependable, skilled, and a great team member," said Karen Archer, RN, CHPNR(R), clinical coordinator at Hope Hospice and Ms Peebles' supervisor. "She is an excellent role model for all of our staff, and it is an honor to be working with her."
