Thank you for Lois Merrick's article, "Why Are Black People Less Likely to Find a Stem Cell Donor Match?" (Viewpoint, November 2021). It is so important to raise awareness about this little-publicized issue. Two years ago, I received a stem cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia. I was lucky to have a sibling donor match. It saddens me to know that because of a low rate of donor matches, there are those who could be denied the procedure that saved my life.
